The LGBTQ section – keep or discard?

That’s the question Danika Ellis ponders in this Bookriot article. While her piece looks at the organization of bookstores in particular, her arguments for and against keeping LGBTQ fiction in separate sections might be applicable to some library locations as well, and is certainly food for thought as we work towards creating more inclusive and accessible library spaces.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this article. Does your library have a separate LGBTQ book section, and if so, do you think it helps or hinders LGBTQ patrons, and authors?
